Merlo: Zoonosis realizará vacunaciones gratuitas contra la rabia
Ante la aparición de la enfermedad en localidades vecinas, desde el municipio ofrecen la posibilidad de inmunizar sin coste perros y gatos.
El área de Zoonosis, dependiente de la Secretaría de Gestión Ambiental y Desarrollo Sustentable, habilitó un Punto Sanitario para Mascotas. El mismo estará ubicado en Ruta 1 e Independencia. Allí podrán acceder propietarios con sus mascotas para que reciban sin coste la dosis anual y obligatoria de la vacuna antirrábica.
Quienes quieran asistir podrán hacerlo del 10 al 17 de marzo, entre las 16 y las 19 horas. Deberán asistir con tapabocas y de forma individual de ser posible. En cuanto a las mascotas, los perros deben tener collar y correa, y los gatos deben ir en su jaula/bolso.
La preocupación surgió a raíz de la detección de casos en localidades cercanas. La Rabia es una enfermedad con posible transmisión hacia humanos, y la inmunización anual de las mascotas es obligatoria.
Celeste Gutierrez, veterinaria a cargo de Zoonosis, manifestó: «Es fundamental para nuestro trabajo que el vecino tome conciencia acerca de la tenencia responsable de mascotas, haciendo hincapié en el resguardo de los animales dentro del domicilio y no en la vía pública. Esto además de ocasionar accidentes con las personas o problemas con la limpieza también puede perjudicar al animal porque trae al hogar enfermedades que pueden ser evitables con el debido cuidado”.
Además, el Punto Sanitario ofrecerá la posibilidad de desparasitar las mascotas, así como su castración gratuita. Estos servicios serán únicamente para hogares en condiciones de vulnerabilidad o donde residan niños.
