El populismo y sus opciones de pseudo izquierda van quedando en el camino en toda la América Latina. Si bien parecía que se venía un resurgimiento, con la victoria de AMLO en México, o la del candidato de Evo Morales en Bolivia, lo cierto, es que los fracasos económicos, la corrupción, y la destrucción de nuestras tradiciones culturales está arrancando del poder a las izquierdas latinoamericanas que desde hace 2 décadas asolan nuestro continente.
Creo que esas tres variables son las que están logrando que las sociedades latinas empiecen a desconfiar del paraíso prometido por una izquierda cuya única igualdad que consigue es la de mayor pobreza y atraso en cada país que gobierna. En lo económico, ningún indicador de producción ha logrado revertir en favor de lograr mayor trabajo o crecimiento, y los pocos indicadores sociales que lograron levantar, como la educación, fue a costa de un gasto monumental que no se condice para nada con los resultados logrados.
Por otra parte, tampoco han podido dar respuestas coherentes a las necesidades de un mundo que ha cambiado, mientras muchos de estos representantes de la nueva izquierda quedaron atrapados en un “obrerismo” del siglo XX más que de los cambios que ha impuesto, nos guste o no, el siglo XXI. El atraso económico, la decadencia de los niveles de vida y la promesa de revertir la pobreza han sido detonantes para que el pueblo decida dejar de creerles. Durante los gobiernos populistas de izquierda, en la mayoría de países en los que gobernaron, el único indicador positivo es el aumento de los pobres e indigentes.
En segundo lugar, la corrupción ha estado a la orden del día, y tal como sucede en nuestro país, a la par que el pueblo se empobrecía, sus dirigentes se iban enriqueciendo y pasaban a formar parte del club de millonarios del mundo. Esa cuestión no pasó desapercibida, y tal como en Argentina, los dirigentes sociales pasaron de “luchadores populares” a verdaderos CEOS de la pobreza y la desesperanza, con una importante dosis de corrupción en el camino.
En tercer lugar, y no menos importante, han impuesto discursos, cómo los de género, que lejos de unificar a los pobres, como lo hacía el viejo marxismo en torno al trabajo, han logrado dividir realmente a la sociedad, no sólo en clases, que es parte de su teoría, sino también en sexos, lo cual ha traído mayor confusión, tensión y desestructuración cultural. Hoy los estados, producto de estas políticas con poca base científica, se ven presionados a adoptar el lobby internacional y a sostener desde sus arcas los delirios de una izquierda que, ante la pérdida del trabajo como motor de la historia, ha encontrado en el conflicto cultural su nuevo punto de conflicto.
Pero las sociedades no son tontas, y empiezan a reaccionar a estos ataques a la libertad y a los derechos de las mayorías que se supo construir a partir de la Revolución Francesa, y que, si bien ha ido evolucionando, su base principal: la libertad individual y de propiedad, es indiscutible. Lo de Ecuador no sorprende, como tampoco sorprendió lo de Uruguay con Lacalle Pou, aunque a diferencia de Correa y Lenín Moreno, el gobierno de Múgica fue mucho más moderado. Al populismo de izquierda se le está acabando el tiempo, pero existe un riesgo.
La desesperación, ante la posibilidad de la pérdida del poder puede hacer que muchos países, incluida Argentina, tornen hacia regímenes autoritarios como el de Venezuela, dado que la posibilidad democrática quede vedada ante la imposibilidad de una izquierda impotente para resolver los problemas de las mayorías. Aquí ya empezaron con el ataque a nuestro sistema judicial y electoral, por eso hay que estar más atentos que nunca. Nuestras instituciones y nuestra constitución no pueden manipularse a gusto de un grupo político. Ecuador es la muestra cabal de que se puede, pero habrá que hacerlo pensando realmente en cuáles serán los cambios requeridos si aquí llega a ganar un espacio político que no sea afín al populismo.
