La kinesiología es una profesión muchas veces pasada por alto, pero en esta pandemia demostró ser clave para que los pacientes recuperen su calidad de vida.

En el marco del día del trabajador, desde la redacción quisimos resaltar el trabajo del Kinesiólogo durante la pandemia, en especial en una área indispensable para devolver la calidad de vida: el área de la rehabilitación posterior Post Covid-19. En esa tarea intervienen diversas profesiones como los Kinesiólogos, Fonoaudiólogos, Terapistas ocupacionales, y médicos de diversas especialidades.

Para poder comprender como se realiza esta rehabilitación, entrevistamos al Kinesiólogo Manuel Vargas Eced, de amplia formación en esta área. Manuel se desempeña en el complejo sanitario de la ciudad de San Luis.

Tuvimos el agrado de conversar con el, y la entrevista se reproduce a continuación:

– Contanos Manuel ¿Cómo nace esta posibilidad de comenzar a trabajar en esta área de rehabilitación?

-La idea surge de observar que las personas que cursan la patología covid 19 tienen un desacondicionamiento físico integral y con mayor post recuperación que cualquier patología que se conoce comúnmente.

– En líneas generales, ¿ Cuales son los objetivos de la rehabilitación en estos pacientes?

–Las recomendaciones y los objetivos a mediano y corto plazo se determinan, pensando en habilitar  funcionabilidad a través de planes de intervención kinésica. Esa intervención se basa en un diagnóstico funcional y un razonamiento clínico, y nos permite comprender y consolidar la toma de decisión e intervención en los procesos patológicos y manejo de la calidad de vida de los pacientes.

Usamos procesos de recuperación y rehabilitación cardio-respiratorios, biomecánicos: todos basados en un programa de entrenamiento en área funcional fisiológica adaptada según la biotipología, comorbilidades y tomando al paciente como una unidad funcional.

Por este motivo, la kinesiologia otorgada a este tipo de paciente es  enfocada a un acondicionamiento físico para evitar complicaciones como el  aumento de la fatiga, disnea, desacondicionamiento físico por reposo prolongado y baja capacidad cardio- pulmonar.

El desacondicionamiento físico, la fatiga y la disnea son los principales factores para generar un circulo vicioso de fatiga y desacondicionamiento continuo, que llevarían al paciente a complicaciones a largo plazo. Siempre trabajamos sobre las diferentes secuelas y con el objetivo principal de devolver la calidad de vida.

Uno de los pacientes en una sesión de fisioterapia respiratoria.

– ¿Qué conocemos como unidad rehabilitación post Covid-19?

– Son espacios o programas multidisciplinarios destinados al abordaje general y seguimiento del paciente que estuvo internado por esta infección y que necesita un abordaje intensivo de las diferentes disciplinas de la salud y la rehabilitación. Estos programas deben tener como objetivo concreto:

1.Contribuir a reducir los niveles de discapacidad de las personas producto del COVID-19.

2.Visibilizar la rehabilitación como pilar fundamental dentro del proceso-salud enfermedad.

3. Rehabilitar la función Cardio Pulmonar y neuromotriz para disminuir la debilidad que adquiere el paciente, producto de su estadía en la terapia intensiva.

–¿Que profesionales intervienen en los equipos de trabajo?

-Los profesionales intervinientes conforman un equipo multidisciplinario (médicos clínicos, neumonólogos, cardiólogos, fisiatras, fonoaudiólogos, terapistas ocupacionales, kinesiólogos) con interacción conjunta.

-¿Hace cuanto tiempo, están funcionando estos espacios de rehabilitación en la Provincia?

–La unidad de rehabilitación Post Covid-19 esta funcionando desde fines de noviembre de 2020 en el Hospital Central de la ciudad de San Luis.

Existen en varios países con diferentes formas de abordajes, con consensos adaptados a la población y al lugar donde se ejecutan dichos planes de rehabilitación. La importancia de desarrollarse en un Hospital público es que esta disponible para toda la población en forma gratuita. Hoy  por los costos económicos es una gran contribución a la población.

–¿Cuáles son los datos duros que manejan en relación a los beneficios de estas unidades de trabajo?

-Los datos de efectividad  en relación  a los beneficios del dicho programa de rehabilitación tienen una eficacia del 97,8% en contexto de readaptación funcional de los pacientes.

-¿Crees que esta modalidad de trabajo llegó para quedarse?

–Si, realmente creo que es una modalidad interesante de trabajo, porque logramos abordar de manera multidisciplinaria e intensiva al paciente, desde que posee el alta de las unidades de cuidados críticos.

Sin duda esta metodología la podríamos aplicar a todos los pacientes que salen de una terapia intensiva y seguir aplicándolo en el paciente Covid-19 hasta que logremos mejores porcentajes de inmunidad en la población.
