Hoy 12 de mayo se celebra el día Internacional de la Enfermería, fecha elegida en conmemoración del nacimiento de Florence Nightingale, enfermera, considerada la precursora de la enfermería profesional moderna.

Para conmemorar este día y conocer un poco mas de esta noble y dedicada profesión, desde la redacción entrevistamos al Lic. Roberto Amarilla, enfermero, especializado en cuidados intensivos pediátricos y que actualmente se desempeña en el área de diagnóstico por imágenes y hemodinamia, del Hospital de Pediatría , Prof. Dr. Juan P. Garrahan de la ciudad de Buenos Aires.

Redacción: ¿Cómo decidiste estudiar enfermería? ¿Qué te atrapó de la profesión para seguir ejerciéndola hasta la actualidad?

Roberto: La verdad estudié enfermería porque era una carrera relativamente corta, en aquel entonces la carrera era terciaria, la hacías en tres años, hoy son cinco y es una carrera universitaria.
No sabía lo hermoso que era, lo descubrí, mientras estudié. No sabía ni el rol, ni las incumbencia, ni el campo de acción. Sin dudas, cada día se profesionaliza más, aunque todavía las autoridades de la cuidad de Buenos Aires, nos siguen encuadrando cómo administrativo, y necesitamos mejorar esta condición para jerarquizar la profesión y estar al mismo nivel que otras profesiones del arte de curar.

Redacción: Hoy en tu día, recordas alguna historia o anécdota positiva ,de esas que te motivan a seguir adelante.

Roberto: En relación a las anécdotas tengo varias después de 20 años de ejercer la profesión, un recuerdo lindo, fue la posibilidad de asistir a Atahualpa Yupanqui, en el año 90, en mis inicio de la formación como estudiante. En realidad todo es emocionante desde el primer bebe que recibí en un parto, hasta recuperar un neonato trasplantado, ya que la mayor parte de mis años laborales en esta profesión los pase en el servicio de Neonatología, donde tengo muchísimas anécdotas.

Redacción: ¿Cómo fue para vos el trabajo durante la Pandemia, que sentís que te dejo todo este cambio ?

Roberto: Durante la pandemia no pare nunca, desde que comenzó, para mi no existió el homeoficce, siempre presencial, aparte de ser enfermero, soy Kinesiólogo y también a la par, seguí trabajando en terapia intensiva. La verdad fue un cambio muy grande en relación a la dedicación laboral, tuvimos mayor carga horaria, mas dedicación, y restricciones en el receso de vacaciones. Sin duda también tuvimos que tener mayores cuidados de protección, sobre todo al inicio de la pandemia, cuando todos los niños se trataban como posibles positivos y todavía no contábamos con todos los elementos de protección, aunque siempre manteníamos todas las medidas de bioseguridad establecidas.


Redacción: Para ir cerrando la nota , algún mensaje que le quieras transmitir a los lectores , en relación a la función que tuvieron y que tienen los enfermeros durante la pandemia y en su rol general dentro del equipo de salud .

Roberto: La enfermería es una HERMOSA profesión, para ejercerla no sólo tenés que obtener el título de grado o habilitante, si no también amor al cuidar al otro, quizá no es reconocida, ni bien remunerada, pero se compensa con lo que te deja cada uno de los pacientes que asistes a diario, y eso no se gasta, no sé esfuma, no sé echa a perder, si no TODO lo contrario, te da energía para vestir cada mañana, y en cada puesto de trabajo, tú ambos de SÚPER HÉROE.
