El estudio se realizó en las 24 jurisdicciones del país y tomó como muestra a personas mayores de 60 años. Además, funciona frente a la variante Delta.

Un estudio a cargo del Ministerio de Salud determinó que una de las vacunas usadas contra el Coronavirus, la china Sinopharm, mantiene una elevada eficacia para prevenir la mortalidad a causa del virus. El estudio difundido a principios de mes sostiene que en personas mayores de 60 años la eficacia alcanzada es del 84%.

Los datos fueron recolectados en todo el territorio entre el 1 de enero y el 22 de junio de 2021. El periodo comprendido tuvo alta transmisión viral, con predominancia de las variantes Alpha -británica-, Gamma -Manaos-, y Lambda -andina-.

La efectividad de la vacuna china fue de un 61% con la primera dosis, sobre 147.908 casos analizados. Tras la aplicación de la segunda dosis, la protección creció al 84% en la misma cantidad de casos analizados.

Además, otro estudio reciente confirmó que Sinopharm mantiene una alta efectividad frente a la Variante Delta, con una efectividad del 81%.

Tras la publicación de los resultados preliminares el Ministerio de Salud solicitó a Sinopharm la información obtenida en casos de aplicación pediátrica en China. La idea es que Anmat pueda evaluar la viabilidad de esta vacuna para inocular a menores de edad.
