La villa fue visitada por una caravana que reúne motociclistas de todo el país. La ocupación hotelera para el fin de semana alcanzó el 100%.

Motos de todo el país comenzaron a llegar esta mañana a la Villa de Merlo: los primeros peregrinos fueron recibidos con el sol merlino. Con el pasar de las horas el número de motociclistas se fue consolidando, mientras desfilaban por el ingreso de la villa y firmaban su inscripción en Avenida del Sol.

A las 15:00 se congregaron a las puertas de la oficina de Turismo local, donde descubrieron una nueva estatua en su honor. Minutos después, el «Monumento al Motociclista Argentino» fue inaugurado con un emotivo acto. Luego los viajeros partieron desde la rotonda de ingreso y culminaron la travesía en el filo serrano.

Juan Álvarez Pinto, intendente merlino, y el secretario de Turismo local, Santiago Trobo, conversaron en conferencia de prensa. Afirmaron que había más de 900 motos inscriptas, y que el encuentro superó todas las expectativas: la ocupación hotelera alcanzó el 100%. Asimismo, anunciaron un programa de actividades con recorridos turísticos y un paseo por el Bajo de Véliz.
