Cientos de vecinos se reunieron a protestar por las irregularidades que encubren la muerte de Matías Padilla, en una de las manifestaciones más importantes que se recuerden en la historia reciente de la villa. Los incidentes se extendieron hasta casi llegada la medianoche.

Ayer por la tarde comenzó una de las manifestaciones más importantes que se recuerden en la historia de la Villa de Merlo. La muerte de Matías Padilla, un joven bombero de 27 años, despertó el enojo popular ante las sombras que encubren la investigación y las irregularidades que vecinos y amigos del fallecido denunciaron de parte de las autoridades provinciales.

Cientos de vecinos respondieron a la convocatoria de Conciencia Colectiva y se reunieron en la Plaza Marqués de Sobremonte pasadas las 17:00. La manifestación se trasladó hacia la Comisaría 42° con el correr de la tarde, y fue allí donde el enojo se hizo notar. A las puertas de la policía el mensaje fue unísono: a Matías lo asesinaron. Los manifestantes solicitaron el encarcelamiento de las dos personas involucradas en su muerte, con el miedo latente de que una nueva causa termine «cajoneada».

El enojo se sentía, se respiraba: era bronca manifiesta y era impotencia ante un nuevo atropello de la justicia. «Justicia para pocos», reza el popular dicho. Lo que siguió fueron las llamas frente a la Comisaría y un ambiente enardecido. La abogada de la familia solicitó la presencia de la jueza Palacios para evitar que la violencia se generalice. Sin embargo, nadie llegó.

Con la noche y tras el retiro de algunos familiares de Matías, los vecinos comenzaron a lanzar piedras a la sede policial: los techos y ventanas sintieron la furia incontenible de quien llora a su amigo y teme por que la justicia se ausente una vez más. Los incidentes se extendieron hasta casi medianoche, cuando la Policía logró disipar a los pocos manifestantes que quedaban con ayuda de las distintas fuerzas de la Unidad Regional III.

Todavía resta saber como seguirá el caso: la intención de la querella es lograr que los hechos del sábado sean caratulados como «Homicidio con Dolo eventual». Para ello los abogados de la familia anunciaron que presentarán nuevos testigos, junto con material audiovisual probatorio. El tiempo y la fuerza de quienes querían a Matías irán removiendo la oscuridad que yace en torno a su muerte, y la justicia tendrá una nueva oportunidad de trabajar para una ciudadanía con quien mantiene una enorme deuda.
