El procedimiento fue llevado a cabo por Santiago Maruca, gastroenterólogo infantil del nosocomio local. Es un estudio muy importante en poblaciones pediátricas para detectar condiciones como la celiaquía, gastritis o esofagitis.

La Villa de Merlo fue testigo de la primera endoscopía infantil de su historia: es un procedimiento complejo y que solo se realiza en casos seleccionados a pacientes pediátricos. Fue realizada en el Hospital «Madre Catalina Rodríguez» por el gastroenterólogo infantil Santiago Maruca, quien se mostró contento por poder acceder a estos equipos en el nosocomio local.

El paciente fue un pequeño de 3 años: le practicaron una endoscopía digestiva alta -VEDA-. Este tipo de procedimientos diagnósticos son usados para detectar condiciones como la celiaquía, gastritis o esofagitis. Desde el hospital contaron que también realizan colonoscopías, orientadas a encontrar indicios de enfermedades inflamatorias intestinales.

Un recurso valioso

Tras el exitoso procedimiento Maruca manifestó: “La realización del procedimiento endoscópico es muy valioso porque permite hacer un estudio del paciente de una forma mucho más integral. Por ejemplo, ante la posibilidad de que este niño fuese celíaco, por los resultados de laboratorio, la endoscopía es necesaria y tenerla en el lugar donde uno trabaja es importantísimo porque el diagnóstico se obtiene más rápido».

El especialista sostuvo que en el área de gastroenterología infantil este tipo de consultas tienen alta demanda. Los turnos para el servicio de Gastroenterología Infantil se pueden obtener por los siguientes medios:
