La Red de Estaciones Meteorológicas de la provincia -REM- encabezó un estudio junto a Vicente Barros, reconocido investigador, para conocer como serán las precipitaciones del verano en San Luis. La investigación comparó las precipitaciones de los últimos 30 años con los actuales registros de la REM: indicaron que en los meses de diciembre, enero y febrero podrían caer unos 290 milímetros de agua en suelo puntano.

Los datos históricos fueron proporcionados por el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional y por el mismo archivo de la REM provincial. El objetivo era conocer si la tendencia seca de La Niña -la fase seca del ciclo global natural- se mantendrá en el verano, aunque descartaron que vaya a afectar a la provincia debido a la latitud en que se encuentra San Luis. El estudio aseguró que las precipitaciones serán normales durante este trimestre, alejando los temores de sequía.

¿Cómo se realizó el estudio?

Desde la REM explicaron: «Se tomaron datos de 30 años atrás y a partir de esos números se obtuvieron valores normales donde se puede simular cómo serán las precipitaciones el próximo trimestre, que podrán ser con valores por encima de lo normal, por debajo de lo normal o un valor normal».

Cota baja

De los 21 diques provinciales, la mayoría tiene una cota -o nivel de agua- baja. Daniel Torres, del Área Ríos, explicó que actualmente los espejos de agua provinciales tienen poca agua debido a que aún no comienza la temporada de lluvias, que tendrá sus puntos más altos en enero y febrero.

Asimismo, Torres sostuvo que la cota de cada dique varía de acuerdo a sus características: todos tienen determinado nivel que deberán administrar si el agua se usa para consumo. Con las lluvias del verano los espejos de agua llegarán al nivel esperado, y se mantendrá dependiendo de cuanta agua se necesite para abastecer al sistema en invierno.

Las precipitaciones de los últimos días sirvieron para alimentar el caudal de los distintos ríos y arroyos, aunque se necesitan más lluvias para llenarlos.
