Laboratorios Richmond lanzó un nuevo medicamento para el tratamiento del virus de inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH). Se trata de un único comprimido que se toma a diario y que se encuentra disponible en el sistema de salud tras obtener la aprobación de la ANMAT.

«Tri-Zevuvir es un producto innovador que ofrece una alternativa terapéutica completa con un único comprimido diario, una combinación de Dolutegravir (DTG) con Emtricitabina (FTC) y Tenofovir AF (TAF)», anunció el laboratorio en un comunicado.

En cuanto a la eficacia de la combinación de drogas en dosis única, aseguraron que «está demostrada en diversos estudios, incluyendo población de mujeres embarazadas». «Somos el único laboratorio argentino que ofrece esta combinación en un solo comprimido y actualmente es la que tiene menos eventos adversos», agregaron.

Uno de los principales desafíos para que el tratamiento sea efectivo «es asegurar que los pacientes tomen la medicación de manera regular, a fin de alcanzar una carga viral indetectable, y por eso intransmisible», explicó la empresa.

En Argentina se estima que hay 140.000 personas viviendo con VIH, de las cuales más del 70 por ciento recibe una terapia antirretroviral (TARV), lo que permite reducir la presencia del virus en el organismo.

En las últimas décadas fue mejorando la eficacia de los tratamientos, que además se fueron simplificando desde el «cóctel de drogas» que contaba con más de 10 comprimidos diarios. A la actualidad que se logró reducir esa cantidad.

Sin embargo, desde el laboratorio sostienen que «la adherencia al tratamiento sigue siendo uno de los mayores obstáculos en la lucha contra esta enfermedad» por múltiples razones, como «falta de acceso, especialmente en el interior del país» o «el hecho de sentirse bien y no tener síntomas», lo que hace que muchos pacientes los abandonen o no los mantengan de manera regular.

En ese sentido, la directora de Asuntos Científicos de Richmond, Elvira Zini, dijo que el nuevo tratamiento con un comprimido diario busca contribuir «a que los pacientes puedan mantener la adherencia al tratamiento».

En 2003, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) definió la «adherencia» como el grado en el que la conducta de un paciente, en relación con la toma de medicación, el seguimiento de una dieta o la modificación de hábitos de vida, se corresponde con las recomendaciones acordadas con el profesional sanitario.

¿Qué es el VIH y cómo se diferencia del sida?

El Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) es un virus que atenta contra el sistema inmunológico y que, en casos muy avanzados, puede desencadenar un conjunto de síntomas graves a raíz de un debilitamiento de las defensas del organismo, lo que se conoce como el Síndrome de Inmuno Deficiencia Adquirida (SIDA).

La Fundación Huésped aclara al respecto de esta situación que «no toda persona con VIH tiene SIDA, pero sí toda persona que presenta un cuadro de SIDA, tiene VIH». Y sostienen que «una persona con VIH no necesariamente desarrolla síntomas o enfermedades, pero puede transmitirlo».

El VIH se encuentra en la sangre, en el líquido preseminal, en el semen, en los fluidos vaginales y en la leche materna. El virus se transmite a través del contacto de estos fluidos con las mucosas o el torrente sanguíneo de otra persona. Es decir, se puede transmitir por vía sexual, sanguínea o perinatal.

No tiene síntomas, por lo que la única manera de saber si alguien contrajo el VIH es a través de un test. En Argentina, se calcula que el 17% de las personas que viven con VIH no saben que lo tienen.

Existen métodos para prevenir el VIH, como el uso del preservativo durante las relaciones sexuales, evitando el contacto con la sangre, o realizando controles perinatales en los embarazos. Para más información se puede consultar especialistas de la Fundación Huésped.
