Como es tradicional en cuanto a protocolos en este tipo de entregas, junto al rector de la Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL), C.P.N. Víctor Moriñigo, el ex presidente de Uruguay, firmó el título especial de Doctor Honoris Causa, el libro que así lo certifica y también colocó su rúbrica en el libro de visitas honorables.
El acto privado se desarrolló esta tarde en la oficina del Rector, con la comitiva uruguaya y de la Institución que lo acompaña. Mujica recibirá mañana a las 17:30 horas, en el Anfiteatro Ave Fénix, el título Doctor Honoris Causa, que en su grado y en su forma, es la mayor distinción académica que puede entregar la Institución.
En el mes de mayo, luego de obtener el aval de las ocho (8) facultades y con la afirmativa de un total de 28 consejeros/as presentes, el Consejo Superior aprobó por unanimidad la propuesta expedida por el Rector, de concederle el título máximo con el que la Institución distingue a una persona, otorgándole el Doctorado por causas de honor por sus méritos sobresalientes y excepcionales.
Posteriormente a la firma de la distinción, el destacado político uruguayo, compartió con medios provinciales y nacionales, una conferencia de prensa que se desarrolló en el Auditorio Mauricio López.
En contacto con los periodistas locales, Mujica, quien dijo ser «un predicador social», dio catedra del concepto de austeridad bajo el que vive, y opinó sobre la coyuntura política actual.
“Tenemos una deuda social tremenda en nuestra Latinoamérica que es la desigualdad”.
“Vivimos en una etapa de la civilización donde tácitamente se nos tiende a educar que triunfar en la vida es hacerse rico. Esto es una mentira canallesca. Si 7 mil millones u 8 mil millones de habitantes fueran a vivir como vive la minoría privilegiada del mundo, necesitaríamos 3 o 4 planetas porque lo haríamos pelota”.
“¿Cuándo eres libre? ¿Cuándo estás trabajando por necesidad materiales o cuando haces cosas que a ti te gustan, te motivan y que no necesariamente tiene que ver con lo que ganas? ¿Para qué vivimos? ¿Nacimos para trabajar solamente? No, hay que tener tiempo para vivir”
Sobre José Alberto Mujica Cordano
Nació en Montevideo el 20 de mayo de 1935. Es un político uruguayo que se desempeñó en la presidencia de dicho país del 2010 hasta el 2015. Desde el 2005 está casado con Lucía Topolansky, dirigente histórica del Movimiento de Participación Popular (MPP) y además, vicepresidenta de Uruguay entre 2017 y 2020.
Como Presidente, tuvo una activa política nacional en el área económica, social y educativa. Intentó una reforma del Estado en cuanto a la administración pública y políticas sociales activas.
En política internacional, intervino en el conflicto entre Argentina y Uruguay por plantas de celulosa, en el desbloqueo del puente de Fray Bento. Además participó en otros acuerdos y políticas, como la legalización y regulación de la venta de marihuana.
