LAS CONDICIONES DEL CLIMA EN SAN LUIS VOLVERÍAN A ESTAR NORMALES A PARTIR DE FEBRERO
Así lo adelantó el doctor en Ciencias Meteorológicas, investigador superior del CONICET y profesor emérito de la UBA, Vicente Barros. El fenómeno La Niña se terminaría en el segundo mes del año, dando lugar a una temporada de lluvias normal o superior a lo normal.
Para del fundador de la Red de Estaciones Meteorológicas de San Luis y galardonado científico Vicente Barros. La Niña es un fenómeno que afecta a la región por segundo año consecutivo, que en la región centro de Argentina genera condiciones que aportan menos lluvias que lo normal.
“No hay un conocimiento científico que permite adelantar con certeza las condiciones climáticas futuras, pero lo que sí sabemos es que hay una alta probabilidad de que el fenómeno La Niña que está afectando al sur de Sudamérica terminará probablemente entre enero y febrero próximos”, afirmó.
Evaluó que este fenómeno fue bastante inusual, del cual casi no hay antecedentes, con tres años seguidos de La Niña, que en general en Argentina está asociado a condiciones secas, “pero no es algo matemático; por ejemplo, en San Luis tuvimos un año muy seco este 2022, pero en 2021, que también hubo Niña, no fue tan seco, sino más bien normal”.
Después de más de dos años de afectar negativamente el funcionamiento del sistema climático, este fenómeno está dando muestras de haber entrado en su proceso de disipación, según estimó, y por ello se espera que, en el corto plazo, esta tendencia favorezca un mejor transporte de humedad favoreciendo la reactivación de las lluvias y la moderación de las temperaturas.
“A futuro podría adelantar una idea, pero siempre con la salvedad de que no es una certeza científica, que estaríamos en condiciones normales a partir de febrero”, reiteró el doctor Barros.
Recordó que San Luis siempre tiene un período seco, que abarca todo el invierno: “Si miramos las precipitaciones de este año, la mayor parte muestra un déficit con respecto al promedio, particularmente más pronunciado en el norte de la provincia, y eso se debió fundamentalmente a lo que pasó en el invierno, con déficit acumulado desde principio de año”.
Luego, la primavera fue bastante desfavorable porque tardó en iniciarse el periodo de lluvias, pero cuando empezó, que fue en noviembre, fue suficiente para compensar, según evaluó.
“Después volvimos a tener un período seco en diciembre que estuvo muy por debajo de lo normal, condiciones desfavorables que llevaron al gobierno a declarar la emergencia hídrica por 90 días”, explicó.
Barros adelantó que, desde el Observatorio Ambiental y del Cambio Climático (OACC), que la provincia lanzó en septiembre de este año y que dirige personalmente, publicarán comentarios sobre el comportamiento del clima en San Luis, aunque aclaró que no harán predicciones.
Dependiente de la Universidad de La Punta, este observatorio también presentó en septiembre el libro “Atlas climático de la provincia de San Luis 2008/2019 y escenarios climáticos 2020/2040 y 2040/2060”, creados a partir de estudios realizados por los integrantes de las Red de Estaciones Meteorológicas, con los datos recopilados en los últimos años y que permite hacer la proyección climatológica hasta el 2060.
