LA UE, ARGENTINA, BRASIL Y COLOMBIA PIDEN A VENEZUELA RETOMAR EL DIÁLOGO PARA LAS ELECCIONES

En el marco de la tercera cumbre de líderes de la Unión Europea y la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y del Caribe (CELAC), el Presidente de la República de Francia, Emmanuel Macron; el Presidente de la República Federativa de Brasil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva; el Presidente de la República de Colombia, Gustavo Petro; el Presidente de la República Argentina, Alberto Fernández; y el Alto Representante de la Unión Europea para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad, Josep Borrell, se reunieron con la Vicepresidenta del Gobierno de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, y el negociador en jefe de la Plataforma Unitaria de la oposición venezolana, Gerardo Blyde.

Esta iniciativa se produjo después de la discusión sobre la situación en Venezuela organizada por el Presidente de la República durante el Foro de París sobre la Paz en noviembre de 2022.

Los presidentes argentino, brasileño y colombiano, junto con el Alto Representante, expresaron su solidaridad con los países que acogen a los ciudadanos venezolanos que han abandonado el país. Celebraron la firma en México de un acuerdo social entre venezolanos el 26 de noviembre de 2022 e hicieron un llamamiento en favor de su implementación efectiva lo antes posible, en beneficio del pueblo venezolano.

Los jefes de Estado y el Alto Representante alentaron al gobierno venezolano y a la plataforma unitaria de oposición a retomar el diálogo y la negociación en el marco del proceso de México para acordar, entre otros puntos de la agenda, las condiciones de las próximas elecciones. Hicieron un llamado a una negociación política que conduzca a la organización de elecciones justas, transparentes e inclusivas para todos, permitiendo la participación de todos los que así lo deseen de acuerdo con la ley y los tratados internacionales vigentes, con acompañamiento internacional. Este proceso deberá ir acompañado de un levantamiento de sanciones de cualquier tipo, con miras a su levantamiento completo.

Los jefes de Estado y el Alto Representante coincidieron en que el relanzamiento de las relaciones entre la UE y la CELAC representa una oportunidad para trabajar juntos en la resolución de la situación en Venezuela. Propusieron que los participantes de la reunión continúen dialogando en el marco de las iniciativas establecidas y que puedan hacer un nuevo balance en el Foro de París sobre la Paz del 11 de noviembre de 2023.
