Agredieron a trabajadores de prensa en las manifestaciones de ayer

Este 25 de mayo muchos puntanos se congregaron para marchar por la tarde. Hubo episodios de violencia contra periodistas en Villa de Merlo y Villa Mercedes.

En la plaza Sobremonte de Merlo agredieron a Saúl Fernández, locutor de FM Latidos.


Este 25 de mayo hubo manifestaciones en todo el país para protestar ante las medidas de confinamiento determinadas por el Gobierno hace días. Las convocatorias fueron difundidas mediante redes sociales: vecinos de varias localidades sanluiseñas se sumaron a marchar por la tarde.

Sin embargo, ante la cobertura periodística todo terminó en violencia. En Villa Mercedes y Merlo los manifestantes agredieron a los trabajadores de prensa que habían asistido a trabajar.

En Merlo, un grupo autodenominado «Libres Comechingones» se convocó por la mañana en la Plaza Sobremonte, bajo las consignas «Honremos y defendamos los ideales de la Revolución de Mayo» y «Libertad». Desafortunadamente, la libertad promulgada viró en violencia e intolerancia hacia quienes piensan distinto.

Saúl Fernández, un trabajador de prensa merlino, se acercó para cubrir la manifestación. Minutos después empezó a ser agredido por los autoconvocados, quienes lo amenazaron e intentaron arrojarle escombros. Debido a la violencia y al incumplimiento de las medidas sanitarias, la Policía intervino para intentar dispersar a los manifestantes. No obstante, los «Libres Comechingones» se negaron a dejar el lugar.

Otro hecho similar ocurrió en Villa Mercedes. La víctima fue la periodista Vanesa Escudero, corresponsal de Canal 13 de San Luis y directora de FM Latina. Escudero se había acercado a cubrir la manifestación en pleno centro mercedino, cuando empezó a ser agredida por quienes pasaban frente a la cámara.

Desde La Voz Puntana repudiamos profundamente estos hechos y enviamos nuestra solidaridad a Fernández y Escudero, quienes se acercaron a trabajar ayer por la tarde y fueron agredidos.

Cuando la libertad es bandera, debe ser respetada en todos los ámbitos. La libertad de prensa, amparada constitucionalmente, persigue una pluralidad de voces que jamás debe ser mancillada.
