Triste estadística: en dos años San Luis superó las 160 muertes por accidentes de tránsito
Los datos fueron obtenidos del Observatorio de Seguridad Vial de San Luis, en conmemoración al Día Nacional de la Seguridad Vial.
Hoy 10 de junio se conmemora el Día Nacional de la Seguridad Vial, ya que un día como hoy, pero en 1945, se cambiaba el sentido de circulación en la provincia.
La jornada es para generar conciencia sobre las medidas de seguridad vial y reforzar los esfuerzos para reducir la cantidad de accidentes y muertes. Es que nuestra provincia ostenta una lamentable estadística: en solo dos años alcanzó los 162 fallecidos en accidentes de tránsito, según el Observatorio de Seguridad Vial de San Luis.
Las cifras registradas desde 2019 son tenebrosas: en nuestras rutas y calles se registraron 3.535 accidentes de tránsito. 2019 fue el año más elevado del registro, con 1.590 siniestros. Por su parte, la baja en la circulación de 2020 no fue obstáculo para superar los 1.300 accidentes. En lo que respecta a 2021, las cifras hasta junio alcanzan los 585 siniestros. En total hubieron 162 fallecidos y más de 3.600 heridos.
Zonas rojas
Lucas Sosa, jefe del Programa Seguridad Vial, explicó que la mayor aglomeración de accidentes ocurre en las zonas de mayor circulación. San Luis, Villa Mercedes y las rutas que recorren la provincia registran la mayoría de los accidentes. En este sentido, el funcionario consideró fundamentales las obras encaminadas a mejorar la fluidez vial.
Para Sosa las infracciones más comunes son las siguientes: exceso de velocidad y omisión del uso del caso en motos y cinturón de seguridad en autos. Sin embargo, el factor más problemático parece ser el consumo de alcohol en conductores, que pone en riesgo al conductor y a las demás personas.
Tan fuerte es el impacto de los accidentes de trásnito que configuran la principal causa de muerte entre personas entre 15 y 35 años.
Nuevas herramientas
El mes pasado la provincia estrenó su mapa de siniestralidad: es una herramienta de geolocalización de accidentes que permite estudiar y observar zonas conflictivas. El objetivo es generar acciones preventivas y correctivas en la seguridad vial.
“Es un trabajo que se desarrolla desde diciembre del año pasado; tiene un avance considerable. Se trata de una herramienta tecnológica muy importante, que nos permite modernizar la forma de recabar los datos para hacer los reportes a la Agencia Nacional de Seguridad Vial”, explicó.
En un día así, lo importante es concientizar. El uso del cinturón y el casco es imprescindibles. «No hay que utilizar el celular mientras se maneja; los menores tienen que viajar en asientos traseros y sujetos con sistemas de retención infantil, no hay que manejar si se consumió alcohol. Esperamos el cumplimiento de las medidas para llegar al objetivo de reducir los niveles de siniestralidad y víctimas fatales”, finalizó Sosa.
