En los últimos días, en el hospital Ramón Carrillo, se realizaron dos intervenciones bariátricas en pacientes que llevaban más de un año de tratamiento. “Son escasos los hospitales en el país que brindan este tipo de contención de manera gratuita y San Luis lo tiene”, aseguró Raúl Coria, médico cirujano del HCRC.

Coria integra el equipo de trabajo con María Jorgelina Torres Manzur, médica clínica; la psicóloga Graciela Gerarduzzi, y dos nutricionistas, Anabela Kañera y Carla Storchi. “Somos un equipo con un gran compromiso y por eso queremos invitar a la gente que tiene esta patología para que concurra”, dijo el médico.

A su vez, aclaró que “el tratamiento inicial desde que el paciente concurre a su primera consulta en el Ramón Carrillo tiene el mismo proceso que el segundo método de cirugía bariátrica que también se hace en el nosocomio (bypass gástrico), solo que cambia el tipo de procedimiento acorde al paciente y su condición de salud”.

Cabe remarcar que la cirugía no es la única opción para dejar atrás la obesidad de manera segura, el hospital central propone mediante su equipo multidisciplinario un complejo tratamiento a largo plazo con el objetivo de lograr la reducción de peso mediante “educación alimentaria” y trabajos de contención psicológica.

El cirujano recordó que cuando recién estaba conformado el equipo, el objetivo era avanzar con las cirugías en todos los pacientes, pero no todas las personas estaban en condición de operarse por su estado de salud.

“Al tener tanta demanda no podíamos dejarlos a la deriva, por eso cambiamos el enfoque y hoy le damos la atención a todos los pacientes”, aseguró.

Durante los próximos días, Coria adelantó que están previstas otras 4 intervenciones. “El objetivo es ir creciendo mes a mes y es importante destacar que esto no es común en una institución pública. Son cirugías muy costosas y en este lugar tenemos la posibilidad de brindarles a los pacientes sin obra social y de manera gratuita”, concluyó.
