SEIS DE CADA DIEZ NIÑOS Y ADOLESCENTES SON POBRES EN LA ARGENTINA, SEGÚN LA UCA
Son datos de 2022. Unos 8,2 millones de niños, niñas y adolescentes viven en condiciones de pobreza o indigencia.
Seis de cada diez niños y adolescentes son pobres en la Argentina y unos 4,2 millones se alimentan menos que antes por la situación económica del país. Así lo advirtió un informe del Observatorio de la Deuda Social de la Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) con datos correspondientes a 2022.
Ese año concluyó con un 61,6% de los niños, niñas y adolescentes de la Argentina por debajo de la línea de la pobreza, porcentaje que refleja que unos 8,2 millones no accede a la canasta básica total. De ese total, 1,6 millón vive en condiciones de indigencia (un 13,1% del total de la población de hasta 17 años).
Por otra parte, el relevamiento arrojó que el 31,4% de la población infantil y adolescente sufría de inseguridad alimentaria, entendida como el hecho de que en una familia se haya «reducido la dieta de alimentos en los últimos doce meses por problemas económicos», según la UCA.
En consecuencia, 4,2 millones de personas se alimentan peor que antes como consecuencia de la crisis económica: de ese total, 1,6 millón (12,3%) directamente sintió hambre.
Entre 2019 y 2022 creció casi veinte puntos la cantidad de niños, niñas y adolescentes cubiertos por la asistencia estatal, a través de, por ejemplo, la Tarjeta Alimentar.
Para la inseguridad alimentaria, la situación en el conurbano bonaerense es peor que en otros grandes centros del país: el 15% de los sufrió hambre en el último año. La pobreza infantil en esa región llega hasta 69,1%, mientras que el 16,3% de los chicos y no tienen cubierta la canasta alimentaria, de acuerdo con el relevamiento académico.
Según la UCA, «el balance es positivo en términos de un proceso de recuperación en relación con el deterioro experimentado en 2020 pero es claro que se registra un piso del 30% de la población infantil que carece de una alimentación suficiente y casi la mitad de esta experimenta privaciones graves».
Esa Universidad advirtió que la protección alimentaria aún resulta «insuficiente para erradicar el problema o incluso alcanzar niveles promedio similares a los de la década 2010/2019.
Sin dudas, el balance general del período 2010- 2022, en materia de acceso a la alimentación es negativo».
En cuanto a niños y adolescentes que tienen que salir a trabajar como consecuencia de la crisis económico, la UCA señaló: «el trabajo en el mercado que en este caso se caracteriza por ser eminentemente urbano y como estrategia secundaria de sobrevivencia de los hogares, se estima que, en segundo semestre de 2022, alcanzó al 9,2%».
«Fue más elevada la incidencia en los adolescentes (19,7%), en el estrato trabajador marginal (10%), y en las áreas metropolitanas del interior del país y resto urbano interior (12,6% y 14,5%, respectivamente)», añadió. A la vez, indicó que «el trabajo doméstico y económico alcanza al 33,5% en la adolescencia y 6,4% en la niñez. Es similar por sexo, aunque en el caso del doméstico es mayor entre las mujeres y el económico entre los varones».
