ARGENTINA EN EL TOP FIVE MUNDIAL DE INFLACIÓN EN ALIMENTOS

Según un informe del Banco Mundial, ocupa el cuarto lugar y comparte el quinteto con Venezuela (1°), El Líbano(2°) , Zimbabue(3°) y Surinam(5°).

Argentina ocupa el cuarto lugar en el ranking de los países con mayor inflación en alimentos, según informó el Banco Mundial en su última publicación “Food Security Update” sobre seguridad alimentaria.

El país que supo ser el granero del mundo, ostenta el cuarto puesto, con una inflación anual en alimentos de 118% (información a mayo) detrás de Venezuela (414%), El Líbano (304%) y Zimbabue (256%). Surinam, completa el quinteto con 71% interanual.

El documento, explica que las pautas que toma el organismo para considerar a un país con inflación alta en alimentos es un índice mayor al  30% anual. El «top ten» del ranking lo completan Egipto (66%), Sierra Leona (56%), Turquía (54%), Ghana (52%) y Haití (48%).

El informe destaca que la inflación en alimentos es un problema de todas las economías, si bien remarca que impacta más en las economías menos desarrolladas.

Los datos mensuales más recientes disponibles muestran tasas de incremento superiores al 5% en el 61,1% de las economías de bajos ingresos, el 79,1% de los países de ingresos medianos a bajos, el 70,0% de las naciones de ingresos medianos a altos y el 78,9% de las economías de ingresos altos.

Pero destaca que, en los países denominados ricos, ya no queda ninguna economía con inflación en alimentos mayor al 30%.

En tanto que, en términos reales, la inflación de los precios de los alimentos superó la inflación general en un 79,8% de los 163 países donde hay datos disponibles, indicó el Banco Mundial. En este listado, los primeros puestos son para Zimbabwe, Líbano, Egipto, Turquía, Ruanda, Burundi, Lao, Sierra Leona, Reino Unido y Grecia.

En esta comparación, Argentina no tiene tanto peso ya que en términos reales la inflación de alimentos se mantiene bastante en línea con la inflación general.

En junio el IPC informó un índice general de inflación interanual de 115,6% y la inflación de alimentos y bebidas en el mismo período fue de 116,9%. De hecho, aproximadamente un cuarto del índice general lo aporta el peso de alimentos y bebidas, por lo que normalmente, van de la mano subas y bajas de los índices por el fuerte peso de alimentos y bebidas en el índice general.
