El Trapiche es una de las principales localidades turísticas de la provincia de San Luis, esta ubicada a 39 km. de la capital puntana. El Aglomerado urbano esta conformado por algunos pueblos o localidades , que también tienen una gran repercusión turística como , Río Grande, La Florida, Paso del Rey  y Siete cajones.

Lugares donde el turista puede disfrutar del encanto de la naturaleza autóctona de la región, con ríos y espejos de agua que permiten la posibilidad de refrescarse, nadar y realizar deportes acuáticos.

Como referencia histórica y a pedido de muchos de los turistas, que al llegar consultan por el el significado y el origen del nombre de esta localidad, les contamos que el mismo proviene de un viejo molino que se utilizaba en la zona, para moler los minerales, este se denominaba TRAPICHE y era movido por fuerzas hidráulicas. El origen de la localidad , data del 12 de diciembre de 1792.

Escultura del artista Mario Lange, que representa los antiguos Trapiche, que dan nombre a esta localidad. La misma se encuentra ubicada en el ingreso al Trapiche.

El Trapiche cuenta con una numerosa cantidad de alojamientos ( Hosterías y cabañas), las cuales poseen protocolos específicos de higiene , en el marco de la Pandemia, para poder recibir de manera segura a sus turistas. Hoy es uno de los lugares mas elegidos por el turismo interno y externo que decide vacacionar dentro de nuestro provincia.

Aparte de la hermosa naturaleza con la cuenta esta localidad también podemos disfrutar de diferentes eventos como paseos y ferias, donde participan artesanos, productores y emprendedores.

Son característicos los shows de títeres, festivales, bailes regionales, y eventos musicales , organizados en el anfiteatro montado sobre su rio principal.

Sin duda podemos acceder a vacacionar en una localidad que nos ofrecer una gran variedad de actividades y una combinación de sus paisajes, que como dicen sus habitantes, poseen una Naturaleza que enamora.

Para los turistas que visitan la ciudad de San Luis, les contamos que durante la Nueva gestión del intendente Juan Manuel Rigau, se inauguro la casa del Trapiche en la ciudad de San Luis , la cual se encuentra abierta al público en el horario de lunes a viernes de 9 a 13hs y de 17 a 20hs y sábados de 9 a 13hs. Esta iniciativa tiene por objeto brindar un punto de difusión y promoción de la actividad cultural y turística del Municipio, así como también la asistencia a los ciudadanos del ejido que llegan a la Ciudad de San Luis con el fin de realizar un trámite de cualquier índole.
