Golpe de Estado en Myanmar: el Ejército tomó el poder y apresó a una Premio Nobel de la Paz
Myanmar: la ex Birmania se encuentra sumida en caos tras la declaración de “Estado de emergencia” de parte de la cúpula militar de aquel país. Varios Ministros fueron secuestrados y las comunicaciones fueron cortadas en todo el territorio.

En el día de ayer se produjo la irrupción en el gobierno del Ejército en el país asiático, tras denunciar como fraudulentas los comicios electorales celebrados en noviembre. El resultado había proclamado ganadora a la Liga Nacional para la Democracia, liderado por la ganadora del Nobel de la Paz Aung San Suu Kyi. Pese a que se descartó que hayan cometido fraude en los comicios, desde la semana pasada se temía que los militares avancen sobre las instituciones democráticas.
Desde la cúpula militar sostienen que el “Estado de emergencia” durará un año, bajo la excusa de asegurar la estabilidad institucional. Mientras tanto, la líder de la Liga Nacional para la Democracia y otros altos cargos fueron detenidos en Naypidaw. Sin embargo, desde las redes sociales Suu Kyi instó a sus seguidores a no obedecer el golpe. Tras esto, los militares decidieron cortar todas las comunicaciones, a excepción de su propio canal de noticias.
En Rangún y Naypidaw, las dos ciudades principales, fueron arrestados miembros del Gobierno, entre los que se incluyen el Presidente Win Myint. Las rutas y calles se encuentran acordonadas y la presencia militar en las calles es constante.
El golpe representa un fuerte revés para las instituciones democráticas en la ex Birmania, puesto que su aplicación en el país tiene apenas una década. El país fue gobernado de facto desde 1962 hasta 2011, y desde entonces el Ejército tiene una posición privilegiada en el poder, controlando los Ministerios de Defensa, Interior y Fronteras. Los sucesos cosecharon el repudio de la comunidad internacional: Estados Unidos, Australia, Reino Unido y la ONU se manifestaron en contra de la irrupción militar. Antonio Guterres, Secretario General de la ONU, condenó la detención de Aung San Suu Kyi y agregó: «Estos hechos asestan un duro golpe a las reformas democráticas en Birmania».
