Desde comienzos de abril el Coronavirus no da respiro a los puntanos. Tanto es así que si lo comparamos con el pico de la primer ola en la provincia, ahora hay un 192% más de contagiados.

El crecimiento del virus en San Luis fue geométrico: las cifras fueron aumentando de manera sólida, ante los esfuerzos de un personal de salud extenuado. Por ejemplo, hace exactamente un mes en la provincia había solo 14 personas internadas por Coronavirus: ahora son 76. Si bien las cifras pueden parecer pequeñas, son graves teniendo en cuenta las endebleces históricas del sistema sanitario puntano.

Las cifras de muertes no pararon de aumentar tampoco: solamente en 7 días 57 personas murieron a causa de Covid-19. La cifra es preocupante si la comparamos con abril, donde murieron 84 personas en un total de 30 días.

Un estreno inactivo

Poco duró la alegría que trajo la inauguración del Hospital Ramón Carrillo. Este nosocomio promete ser el más moderno de la región, aunque sus puertas todavía permanecen cerradas. La colosal inversión parece no haber llegado a tiempo: en el resto de hospitales la situación es delicada y los recursos limitados.

Los hospitales provinciales deben hacer uso del sistema «cama caliente»: la desocupación de las camas de terapia intensiva dura lo mismo que su desinfección para recibir nuevos enfermos. José Núñez, director del Hospital San Luis, manifestó que las UTI -Unidades de Terapia Intensiva- ya se encuentran por arriba del 90%. Sin embargo, los enfermos siguen llegando y son cada vez más los jóvenes quienes deben recibir asistencia.
