Anuncian una nueva campaña de vacunación antirrábica en Merlo
Se podrá asistir este martes y el jueves 3 de junio, de 13 a 15 horas. La campaña se dirige a caninos y felinos mayores de 3 meses con su dosis anual vencida.
El área de Zoonosis, dependiente de la Secretaría de Gestión Ambiental
y Desarrollo Sustentable, inicia una nueva campaña de vacunación antirrábica. El objetivo es concientizar y prevenir la transmisión de la enfermedad a mascotas y de éstos a los humanos.
Desde la Secretaría explicaron que la dosis anual y obligatoria será aplicada sin costo alguno. Los interesados deberán dirigirse a la oficina de Zoonosis, ubicada en Ruta 1 e Independencia.
Los turnos de vacunación serán hoy martes y el jueves 3 de junio, desde las 13 hasta las 15 horas.
Los propietarios deben concurrir con barbijo y las mascotas debidamente sujetas con correa, collar y bozal en los casos necesarios. Los felinos deben ser trasladados en caja, bolsos o bolsa transportadora.
¿Qué es la rabia?
Es una enfermedad zoonótica causada por un virus presente en la saliva de los animales infectados domésticos -principalmente perros y gatos- y silvestres -murciélagos, zorros y zorrillos-.
Los contagios de rabia pueden ocurrir por el contacto con la piel o las mucosas del animal infectado, a través de mordeduras o arañazos. Una vez que aparecen los síntomas, la enfermedad puede resultar fatal. En este sentido, desde el municipio recalcan la importancia de mantener a las mascotas vacunadas.
Actualmente existe circulación de la enfermedad entre los animales silvestres de la zona, por lo que desde Zoonosis dieron algunas recomendaciones:
● Guardar distancia con la fauna silvestre, especialmente con zorros.
● No alimentar a los animales silvestres ya que esto aumenta el riesgo de mordeduras y accidentes.
● Mantener a las mascotas dentro del hogar para evitar que entren en contacto con animales
infectados.
● Respetar la ordenanza que prohíbe la permanencia en la vía pública de los animales domésticos.
● Vacunar anualmente a las mascotas para protegerlos de enfermedades y evitar la propagación
hacia los humanos
