Salud: mañana tratarán en Diputados el proyecto de ley de Etiquetado Frontal
La sanción del proyecto, que ya fue aprobado en el Senado, es esencial para combatir la mortalidad por factores como la obesidad, la hipertensión y la hiperglucemia elevada en ayunas.
El martes 5 de octubre marcará no solo la vuelta a la presencialidad plena en el Congreso de la Nación, sino también el tratamiento de una iniciativa orientada a la toma de conciencia en salud alimenticia. Se trata del proyecto de etiquetado frontal, que ya tuvo media sanción en el Senado y ahora será tratado en la cámara baja.
El proyecto busca combatir factores como la obesidad, la hipertensión y la hiperglucemia. Con 140.000 muertes por año, son los factores de mortalidad más elevados en Argentina. Sin embargo, hay otras cifras en las que la iniciativa puso el ojo: en nuestro país 4 de cada 10 menores sufren obesidad, sobre todo adolescentes. El porcentaje crece entre la población adulta, que registra 7 casos de obesidad cada 10 personas.
Las advertencias en los productos tendrán la forma de octágonos negros con caracteres blancos, que informarán el exceso de nutrientes críticos para la salud como azúcares, sodio, grasas saturadas, grasas totales y calorías.
Los detalles del proyecto
La iniciativa tiene aprobación en el Senado desde el año pasado, y en junio de este año lanzaron la campaña #EtiquetadoClaroYa, para exigir a los legisladores la sanción completa del proyecto. La iniciativa provino de la Fundación Interamericana del Corazón, la Federación Argentina de Graduados en Nutrición, Consumidores Argentinos, la Fundación para el Desarrollo de Políticas Sustentables y la Sociedad Argentina de Nutrición y Alimentos Reales.
La Diputada Nacional Brenda Austin consideró que «la Ley de etiquetado es una vieja deuda de la Argentina con el derecho de los consumidores a la información y al acceso a la salud. Saber qué comemos nunca puede ser una mala noticia».
Además, el proyecto prohíbe que los alimentos y las bebidas sin alcohol que contengan algún sello de advertencia, incorporen información nutricional complementaria; logos o frases con el aval de sociedades científicas o asociaciones civiles; y personajes infantiles, animaciones, celebridades, deportistas, entre otros.
Las únicas excepciones para el etiquetado serían productos como azúcar común, sal de mesa, aceites vegetales y frutos secos.
