El juez Marcelo Bustamante Marone ordenó la detención de Facundo Devia, un administrativo contratado temporalmente por el municipio de La Toma para tramitar las ayudas a personas sin empleo y víctimas de violencia de género.

La Toma quedó sumida en escándalo luego de conocerse que Facundo Devia, un administrativo municipal, había estafado a beneficiarios de planes sociales. Seis vecinos de la localidad denunciaron a quien formaba parte del área de Desarrollo Social del Municipio tomeño, aunque otros tantos aseguraron ser víctimas de Devia. Tras las denuncias, el juez Marcelo Bustamante Marone ordenó su detención el día lunes: luego de allanar su casa por la tarde, el delincuente fue detenido horas más tarde.

Walter Contreras, encargado de la UROP VI, señaló que el detenido asistía a víctimas de violencia de género y personas desempleadas, a quienes les pedía una fotocopia del DNI y el CBU de la cuenta bancaría donde recibirían la ayuda. Luego, Devia usaba esos datos para crear cuentas en la aplicación del Banco Nación: así controlaba la cuenta de los beneficiarios y disponía del dinero depositado. Por último, el detenido enviaba el dinero a su cuenta de Mercado Pago, dejando sin fondos a los beneficiarios.

Contreras también reveló que Devia solía escanear el rostro de estas personas con el celular, para poder ingresar a sus cuentas con los controles biométricos y acceder nuevamente a los fondos.

El mecanismo fue descubierto por Gabriela López, una vecina de La Toma: hacía cuatro meses que no tenía fondos del plan social. Desde el celular de uno de sus hijos, pudo ver los movimientos bancarios que Devia realizaba a escondidas. Según López, el detenido vulneró su cuenta cuando ella fue en marzo a actualizar sus datos para seguir cobrando el dinero.

En las requisas encontraron tres teléfonos celulares, $87.905 pesos de distinta denominación, 23 tickets de movimientos bancarios de diferentes entidades, 5 tarjetas de los bancos Supervielle, Nación y Macro; además de otras de Mercado Pago. Tras las denuncias, el delincuente fue removido de su cargo.
