Se incendió la Penitenciaría provincial tras una pelea entre presos
Ocurrió en el Pabellón de Jóvenes Adultos. Dos internos debieron ser hospitalizados por inhalar monóxido de carbono, aunque están fuera de peligro.
El domingo por la noche una pelea entre dos internos del Complejo Penitenciario 1 terminó desencadenando un incendio dentro de la celda donde se encontraban los reos. Las llamas y el humo afectaron a los otros presos que se encontraban en el Pabellón de Jóvenes Adultos.
Según detallaron fuentes policiales, el conflicto tuvo lugar a las 22:30 del domingo: los involucrados fueron César Liendo y Wálter Gatica, ambos de 19 años. Los jóvenes se enfrentaron dentro de su celda utilizando hierros, el palo de un secador de piso y restos de un inodoro que destrozaron. En medio de la pelea uno de los procesados prendió fuego un colchón, iniciando el incendio y causando la intoxicación de ambos: Liendo y Gatica debieron ser hospitalizados por inhalar monóxido de carbono.
Las llamas afectaron la instalación eléctrica, por lo que ese sector del Pabellón 3 quedó a oscuras. En esa oscuridad, los guardiacárceles debieron sofocar las llamas con matafuegos y evacuar al resto de los internos que se encontraban en el pabellón. Liendo y Gatica fueron rescatados de su celda: fueron asistidos por personal del Sempro y trasladados al Hospital San Luis, donde recibieron suero y oxígeno. Ambos recibieron el alta médica la madrugada del lunes y volvieron a la Penitenciaría.
Los daños en el Pabellón 3 fueron significativos. Efectivos de la Comisaría 23°, de la Policía Científica y de Bomberos realizaron los peritajes para la investigación, caratulada como «Averiguación de Incendio».
