Fue aprobado ayer en Diputados, ya que contaba con media sanción del Senado. La iniciativa que busca advertir sobre la presencia de excesos de grasas, sodio y azúcares en los productos tuvo 200 votos a favor.

La Cámara baja trató ayer martes el proyecto de Ley de Etiquetado Frontal y terminó otorgándole sanción completa la normativa: 200 votos afirmativos, 22 negativos y 16 abstenciones recibió la iniciativa impulsada desde el oficialismo. La primera sesión 100% presencial desde el comienzo de la pandemia extendió el debate sobre la ley hasta casi la medianoche, y contó con la intervención de unos 70 diputados.

El proyecto tiene como fin advertir a los consumidores sobre los excesos de grasas, sodio y azúcares en los productos con el fin de ayudar a combatir enfermedades como la obesidad, la hipertensión y los riesgos cardíacos. Esto se hará añadiendo octógonos negros con letras blancas en los paquetes de distintos productos comestibles. Asimismo, los productores que incorporen edulcorantes y cafeína a sus comestibles deberán informar que no se recomienda su consumo en niños y niñas.

La normativa también tiene efectos sobre la publicidad: se prohíbe la emisión de comerciales en los productos que posean sellos de advertencia. Además, los productos señalados con más de un octógono no podrán incluir dibujos animados, personajes, figuras públicas, regalos ni elementos que llamen la atención de niños, niñas y adolescentes.

Las obligaciones también recaen sobre el estado: deberá priorizar la compra de alimentos que no posean estas etiquetas de advertencia.
