El sábado por la noche Martín Rial recuperó la libertad, luego de pasar la semana detenido en la alcaidía de Concarán. El conductor de la VW Touareg que despistó y terminó con la vida de Matías Padilla había sido detenido el lunes por la madrugada. En la semana tuvo una audiencia con el juez de Instrucción Jorge Pinto, aunque se abstuvo a declarar: su abogado solicitó la prórroga legal de 8 días, para recolectar evidencia que aliviane la sospecha de que la noche del siniestro no manejaba alcoholizado.
Aunque recuperó la libertad, el imputado sigue procesado por la causa. Sin embargo, su abogado apelará la resolución indicando que se trató de un accidente culposo, con una calificación menor.
