GRIPE AVIAR: DETECTARON UN SEGUNDO CASO EN SAN LUIS
Un segundo caso de influenza aviar (IA) H5 se confirmó en la provincia de San Luis, informó este miércoles el Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (Senasa), y señaló que la evaluación se realizó por la denuncia de un vecino.
La detección se hizo en aves de traspatio en la ciudad de Villa de Merlo. El informe se hizo en base a ocho muestras analizadas, entre las que se detectó un caso de gripe aviar en una zona rural, a 9 kilómetros de la localidad de Merlo, en lo que se denomina zona gris, ya que se encuentra fuera de los municipios más cercanos.
El Senasa señaló que la evaluación se dio por la denuncia del vecino y porque desde el viernes las aves de traspatio comenzaron a presentar síntomas. En Argentina ya son 47 detecciones positivas que se dividen en 38 aves de traspatio, 4 silvestres y 5 del sector comercial.
¿Cuáles son los efectos de la gripe aviar?
La influenza aviar altamente patógena (IAAP) afecta a las aves, tanto de corral como silvestres. Las aves acuáticas y playeras se consideran los reservorios naturales de estos virus y no suelen enfermarse, aunque esto parece estar cambiando ya que se han detectado mortandades de estas especies relacionadas a la presencia del virus H5N1, que es la variante del virus de alta patogenicidad de la influenza aviar.
Es una enfermedad que nunca ha estado presente en Argentina. Desde el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación aclararon que “la enfermedad no se transmite a las personas por medio del consumo de carne aviar y sus subproductos. Por lo tanto, no hay peligro en la ingesta de estos alimentos”.
Sin embargo, indicaron que “las personas pueden adquirir la gripe aviar principalmente a través del contacto directo con animales infectados (vivos o muertos) o con sus entornos contaminados”.
