La vacuna Sputnik V que se aplica hoy en Argentina no tiene suficientes dosis de las esperadas para cubrir al personal sanitario y de riesgo. Más allá de los usos políticos que le dio el kirchnerismo a la misma, vacunando a amigos, o dándole el control del operativo en los barrios a la Cámpora, lo cierto es que lo que llegaba de Rusia distaba mucho de las expectativas de Alberto.

Por este motivo, es una buena noticia el probable arribo el miércoles en la madrugada de 580.000 dosis de la AstraZeneca/Oxford fabricada en la India por el Serum Institute de ese país. La vacuna Covishield podría aplicarse en una dosis lo que permitiría cubrir rápidamente la inmunización de personal sanitario, docente y personas de riesgo, en un amplio espectro del país. Eso siempre y cuando no vuelvan a utilizarla para hacer campaña.

La estrategia one shot demostró, según los estudios de Astra Zeneca, tener una eficacia del 76%, lo que a todas luces es un éxito. Por eso Alberto esta esperanzado que se viene un nuevo escenario epidemiológico, y el presidente está monitoreando personalmente esta nueva etapa.

Otra buena noticia, es que el laboratorio ya adelantó que el país recibirá en marzo otras 580.000 dosis que, sumadas al stock de la vacuna rusa, conformarían un buen paquete para lograr avanzar en el plan “épico de vacunación masiva” que hasta ahora era solo un sueño fallido. El pasado martes 9 de febrero, el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación, aprobó, con carácter de “emergencia” la vacuna Covishield, en un proceso muy similar al usado con la Sputnik V, luego que la Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología (Anmat) diera luz verde a su aprobación a través de un informe técnico.

Argentina es uno de los países más retrasados en materia de vacunación contra el Covid, y con este acuerdo espera poder recuperar el liderazgo en la región. Esperemos que se sigan celebrando más acuerdos de este tipo y podamos volver pronto a la tan ansiada normalidad, el país lo necesita.
