En un encuentro muy peleado, Dinamarca pudo conservar el título que habían conseguido allá por 2019. El partido final tuvo como contrincante a la siempre ruda Suecia, que no cosecha laureles en Handball desde 2002.

Los daneses fueron conducidos por su estrella, Mikkel Hansel, quien anotó siete tantos en el partido. Pese a que a los suecos le faltaron algunos jugadores de peso, lograron emparejar el juego hasta los últimos instantes. Pudieron irse al vestuario con dos puntos de ventaja y la mantuvieron al comenzar el segundo tiempo. Sin embargo, tres grandes atajadas de Landin, arquero danés, ayudaron a los bicampeones a dar vuelta el resultado.

En el partido por el tercer puesto España venció 35-29 a Francia. Para los Gladiadores también fue un mundial aceptable, ya que alcanzaron el puesto 11: nunca antes la selección nacional había quedado en una posición tan alta.
