El mundo del videojuego ha crecido en los últimos años, pero en está última década, con los avances en IA, gráficos y la evolución de consolas, definitivamente se ha dado un salto impresionante en las opciones que los juegos ofrecen a los usuarios. Más aún, la pandemia ha generado que muchas más personas se “cuelguen” con un buen juego, ya que se disponen de muchas más horas de ocio que antaña, y es posible, que en la post pandemia se siga con esta tendencia.

El mundo del videojuego seguirá creciendo al ritmo de la tecnología y los nuevos desarrollos, y con personas más dispuestas a quedarse en casa, es posible que comercialmente el despegue sea importante. Por ahora, veamos un poco cuales fueron las joyitas de la última década.

  1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Este juego, inspirado en las novelas del escritor polaco Andrzek Sapkowski es la cumbre de los llamados RPG, con una excelente narrativa, en donde cada historia tiene su propio peso para acercarnos una trama ágil e interesante. Sobresalen la jugabilidad y el pulido artístico del diseño, tanto de los personajes como los ambientes, convirtiendo a esta tercera entrega de la Saga en una obra de las selectas.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 

Este clásico volvió con todo, y revolucionó la experiencia de explorar un mundo abierto, donde cada rincón esconde alguna sorpresa o algún secreto. La aventura está a la vuelta de la esquina, mientras recorremos montañas, bosques y pantanos. Si existieran juegos con mapas infinitos, Beath of the Wild sería lo más cercano a uno.

3. Dark Souls 

Este es seguramente uno de los juegos más influyentes de la década. La oscuridad profunda envuelve un mundo medieval de fantasía, cargado de vacío en donde el abismo te devuelve tu propio reflejo. Con una excelente jugabilidad, Dark Souls es sin duda uno de los juegos de la década.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2 

Red Dead Redemption 2 no es un juego, es una obra de arte, cuya trama, personajes y entornos dan una sensación de un mundo abierto, cargado de vida. Se desarrolla en un universo basado en el Western y no deja de asombrar como ha podido lograr una excelente combinación de jugabilidad e historia.

5. The Last of Us 

Un videojuego total, imperdible para los amantes de la play y de las buenas historias. Es sin duda uno de los juegos más valiosos para la década.

6. The Last of Us Parte II 

Pocos puntos separan TLOU 1 y su secuela, que salió en 2020 que terminó convirtiéndose en el mejor juego del año. Una trama igual de profunda que su antecesora, y quizás su mayor interés es que no intenta comprender las motivaciones de la humanidad. Este juego se desarrolla en un escenario apocalíptico, en dónde la narrativa hurga en la propia mirada del desastre colectivo. Un juego imperdible.

7. Bloodborne 

Tratando de emular el éxito de Dark Soul, la empresa From Software nos deleitó con un gran juego para play 4. Inspirado en la obra de H. P. Lovecraft que, junto a un diseño insuperable, logro el efecto de un mundo de terror, convirtiéndolo en uno de los pocos juegos capaces de competirle a su primo Dark. Es un digno sucesor de la exitosa saga, y sin duda uno de los favoritos de la década.

8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 

Desde que salió, en 2001, la quinta entrega de The Elder Scrolls no ha salido de nuestras vidas. Una aventura en primera persona, carga de magia y brutalidad que ha dejado fascinado a más de uno. Calabozos y Dragones, guerreros, y toda una miríada de personajes que revolucionaron el género.

9. Journey 

Journey es uno de esos juegos en dónde el arte y la tecnología se conjugan para lograr una joya del entretenimiento. No es un juego, es un viaje que tiene que experimentarse por si mismo, y eso es a lo que apela el juego desde sus inicios. Vale la pena adentrarse en este fantástico mundo.

10. Final Fantasy XIV 

Su lanzamiento aciago determinó el futuro del proyecto, que fue puesto en manos de Naoki Yoshida, el director que consiguió revertir una situación que parecía imposible. A pesar de esto, logro transformarse en uno de los mejores juegos del género MMORPG, resta conocerlo, porque el curriculum vitae de esta saga habla por sí solo.
