¿Cuál es el origen de la meditación?



En la cultura occidental la palabra meditación viene del latín meditatĭo que originalmente indicaba un tipo de ejercicio intelectual; mientras que la palabra contemplación se reservaba para un uso más religioso o espiritual. Aparte de su uso histórico, la palabra meditación es empleada en la traducción de conceptos provenientes de prácticas espirituales asiáticas como el dhyana. De esa manera, la palabra meditación adquirió una nueva definición que la hace similar a la contemplación.

En el siglo XIX, los teósofos adoptaron la palabra «meditación» para referirse a las diversas prácticas de recogimiento interior o contemplación propias del hinduismo, budismo y otras religiones orientales. No obstante, hay que notar que este tipo de práctica no es ajena a la historia de Occidente, como muestran descubrimientos de vasijas celtas con figuras en postura yóguica.


Diferentes tipos de meditaciones

Budismo: El Zen considera meditar como la condición natural de la conciencia humana, capaz de comprender por sí sola el significado de su existencia, incluso si ocurre a nivel del inconsciente. Las interrupciones vienen por la agitación o el interés en los asuntos particulares que absorben nuestra atención

Cristianismo: esta religión otorga al meditar un enfoque cristológico. El cristiano trata de dirigir su pensamiento a Dios, a su palabra y su obra. Para meditar hay que hacerse de algún libro o escrito como la Biblia, los textos litúrgicos del día, escritos de los padres de la Iglesia o de los santos, etc.

Hinduismo: En el hinduismo, en las escuelas de yoga y vedānta, la meditación es parte de dos de las seis ramas de la filosofía hindú.

Islamismo: En el sufismo se emplean diversas técnicas meditativas.

Paganismo: La meditación es un pilar fundamental para conectarse con la divinidad en religiones como el druidismo y la Wicca, basadas en el paganismo y el neo paganismo.

Últimamente la práctica de la meditación se ha hecho muy popular hasta el punto de considerarse muy positiva en los pacientes que sufren problemas de salud relacionas con el estrés
 
En este contexto, la Organización Mundial de la Salud aconseja que una buena forma de afrontar estos sentimientos durante el confinamiento es a través de la meditación, que con su práctica diaria podemos conseguir un bienestar emocional.

  4. Mayor consciencia del momento presente.

¿Qué necesitamos para meditar?



1. Ponte ropa cómoda.
2. Busca un lugar tranquilo.
3. Siéntate de manera correcta.
4. Céntrate en un objeto.
5. Acepta los pensamientos que surgen y sigue adelante.
6. Aumenta tu tiempo de meditación de forma progresiva.
8. Busca personas que también quieran iniciarse en la meditación.
