Cosecha joven: entrevistamos a José Falcón

A sus 20 años, el joven fotógrafo nos enseña que las pasiones se despiertan con ganas y dedicación. A la foto hay que buscarla.

La cámara puede llevarte a lugares inhóspitos.

Tuvimos el agrado de conversar con un puntano muy prometedor. José es un fotógrafo de solamente 20 años y es vecino de la Villa de Merlo. En su corta vida ha recorrido diferentes paisajes con un denominador común: la cámara como tercer ojo.

Nuestro entrevistado se formó rodeado de artistas de renombre, que lo apadrinaron y le enseñaron como encontrar su mirada detrás del lente. Hace días José presentó su exposición en Casa del Poeta.

Conversamos sobre esta muestra, pero también sobre su historia y sus proyectos. La entrevista se reproduce a continuación:

-Contame un poco sobre la muestra que estás llevando adelante.

-La muestra que yo estoy presentando se llama «Cosecha Joven», estaba prevista de forma presencial en Casa del Poeta. Pero con las nuevas medidas la tuve que hacer virtual.

-¿Y qué sabor te dejó que la exposición sea virtual?

-Un poco es un bajón, porque cuando uno ve las fotos físicamente, ya enmarcadas e impresas, es otra la sensación. Es algo un poco más puro. Además, el que va a la muestra ya va con cierta expectativa de ver fotografía. Online en otra cosa, aunque no se si peor.

Cuando es en vivo, es más fácil para el que mira establecer una relación con la foto. Rescato que por lo menos se pudo hacer: como todo tiene su lado positivo, y me gusta que la exposición puedan verla de todos lados y por el tiempo que sea.

-Eso quería preguntarte, si las fotos se van a mostrar de forma temporal o ya quedan expuestas permanente en la Casa del Poeta.

–No, pueden seguir viéndose por el canal de YouTube de la Casa del Poeta, en formato de video. En realidad, yo pensé hacer la muestra un mes antes pero estaba de viaje. Cuando volví y conseguí fecha de exposición, pasó todo esto de las medidas nuevas. Por lo menos seguimos moviéndonos para que la gente lo pueda ver.

-¿Cómo fue que surgió esta propuesta de exponer en Casa del Poeta?

-Yo hice una muestra antes ahí pero de forma grupal, con otros artistas, hace un año. Tengo amigos artistas que ya expusieron ahí también y yo venía con ganas hace bastante de exponer individualmente ahí.

Es una sala grande que implica un lindo trabajo, porque hay que hacer muchos cuadros en paredes grandes. Me inscribí en la agenda para exponer ahí y en febrero me quisieron dar una fecha, aunque estaba de viaje. Cuando volví arreglé esta fecha de mayo, y acá estamos.

-Se que hay un colectivo de artistas muy lindo en Merlo, pero quería saber como vivís vos tu relación con los artistas de la villa.

-En Merlo me relaciono mucho con artistas como Juan Gilli y Emaús Miciu, ambos grandes pintores. Emaús y su hermano fueron los que me enseñaron a sacar fotos. Y Juan Gilli es un pintor muy activo, siempre está buscando hacer algo nuevo. Ahora estamos exponiendo con el en la Sala de Arte de Merlín, pero siempre buscamos hacer algo juntos.

-Me gustaría hacerte algunas preguntas sobre vos y como empezaste. ¿Cómo descubriste tu interés en la fotografía?

–Cuando arranqué con las fotos tenía trece años: tenía una camarita de principiante acá en casa y con eso empecé a sacar algunas fotos. Fotografiaba flores o acompañaba a Emaús cuando el iba a pintar a la sierra. El me prestaba su cámara y así le fui agarrando el gustito: empecé a ver las cosas de una manera distinta. Ahí uno empieza a poner el ojo propio en las fotos.

Después, con una cámara analógica aprendí los ajustes básicos y al tiempo me gané una camarita en una Olimpiada del Conocimiento. A esa la usé un montón. A los 14 competí en un concurso de fotografía que organizaba la Municipalidad de Merlo y me fue muy bien: eso también me motivó a seguir con las fotos.

Después hubo muchas salidas a sacar fotos. Fui mucho a la sierra y me gustaba llegar a mi casa y tener ese recuerdito.

-Es hermoso eso. ¿Tu familia te acompañó en este proceso de dedicarte a la fotografía?

-Si, por suerte mi familia siempre me apoyó. Incluso dejé el primer año de secundaria para dedicarme de lleno a la fotografía. Hice un viaje a la Patagonia a la casa de unos amigos de mi papa que eran fotógrafos, y me pasé un tiempo ahí aprendiendo. Cuando volví arranque de nuevo: perdí ese año de clases pero lo aproveché un montón. A mis papas siempre les pareció bien que haga lo que me guste.

-¿Qué cosas aprendiste o te llevaste de esa experiencia?

-Como fotógrafo aprendí muchas técnicas. Los que me enseñaron son Eliseo e Isaías Miciu, ambos fotógrafos. Más allá de estas cosas, lo que más me llevé es la idea de que la foto hay que ir a buscarla, y hay que trabajar mucho.

Allá capaz íbamos a sacar fotos de una cosa y para eso había que cruzar a caballo y caminar un montón, todo para que salga bien esa captura. Atrás de una foto linda capaz hay una caminata de 6 horas, o pasar mucho frío. Una vez fuimos a sacar unas fotos nocturnas en un lago, y casi nos congelamos.

Con ellos aprendí que lo que importa al final es el resultado, la foto que conseguís con ese trabajo.

-¿Hay algún estilo de fotografía con el que te sientas más comodo?

-Yo trabajo mucho el blanco y negro. Muchos me preguntan por qué uso ese estilo y para mi el encanto que tiene es su simpleza. Es mucho más simple transmitir un mensaje visual en dos colores. Lo disfruto y me es más fácil hacer una composición en blanco y negro que a color. Es un estilo que me gusta mucho.

También me gusta mucho la fotografía de campo: es una cultura que acá en la zona está muy presente, pero es desconocida o poco valorada por la gente. La cultura de campo estuvo siempre acá: lo que ahora se llama gente de campo refleja la forma en que solía vivirse acá en Merlo, pero se fue perdiendo. Me gusta darle valor a eso también.

-Excelente. Vos en página explicabas que para crear fotos poderosas y emotivas hay que colectar las emociones del momento. ¿Vos consideras que tu cámara es un medio para contar historias?

-Si, absolutamente. A veces veo fotos y me evocan las sensaciones del momento que viví cuando las saqué, por más que técnicamente no sean las mejores. En cada foto hay un montón de historia.

Me acuerdo que una vez en Córdoba le hice un retrato a un señor del campo. Cuando murió la gente lo recordaba siempre al ver la foto. Para mi en la foto sobreviven las cosas.

-¿Dónde podemos ver más trabajos tuyos?

No soy muy activo en redes pero intento ir mostrando lo que hago. También tengo mi página web –https://www.josefalcon.com/-: como la hice mientras estaba de viaje la tengo en inglés, pero ahora voy a ajustarle eso. Ahí tengo la mayoría de mis fotos.

También espero poder hacer otra muestra pronto, para que la gente lo pueda ver. Los artistas solemos decir que siempre buscamos la forma para mostrar a la gente lo que hacemos.

-Me gustaría cerrar preguntando como te ves a futuro. ¿Te ves dedicándote de lleno al arte?

-Es algo que siempre me preguntan. Me gustan otras cosas, una de ellas es el cine y el video. Pero la fotografía y la impresión son cosas que me gustan muchísimo y las disfruto siempre. Trabajar de lo que a uno le gusta es muy lindo.

Si me gustaría seguir viajando: quiero seguir conociendo lugares. Los museos también me encantan, me dan mucha inspiración a la hora se sacar fotos. Al que está recién empezando en esto siempre le recomiendo que mire fotos o exposiciones de grandes fotógrafos, que lograban resultados increíbles con muy pocos recursos.
